Are you ready to step into a leadership role and make a meaningful impact in diabetes and endocrinology care? We are excited to invite applications for the position of Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dynamic and supportive team on Vickers 3 at the Northern General Hospital.

Our acute diabetes and endocrinology wards provide high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals with complex medical needs, including those with mental health conditions. Each ward has a unique specialty:

Vickers 3 is the designated haven for individuals with eating disorders, providing holistic and compassionate care tailored to their needs.

We're seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have:

A proven track record in delivering high standards of care.

Strong leadership and decision-making skills.

A passion for diabetes and endocrinology.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and support the team.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in leading, inspiring, and supporting a team of skilled professionals. This position offers the opportunity to develop your leadership skills, influence patient care, and contribute to service development within a thriving, fast-paced environment.

You will be responsible for:

Delivering exceptional nursing care, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and compassion.

Leading by example, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence.

Supporting the professional development and well-being of staff through mentorship, appraisals, and education.

Coordinating patient care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Contributing to the implementation of evidence-based practices and innovative approaches to diabetes, endocrinology, and mental health care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. Registered Nurse
2. To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
3. Possess or working towards a degree

Experience

Essential criteria

4. Relevant experience at AFC band 5 (or equivalent)
5. Experience at managing long term conditions

Desirable criteria

6. Recent experience of caring for patients with Diabetes and Endocrinology conditions.
7. Experience of caring for patients with eating disorders

Further Training

Essential criteria

8. IV drug administration competency.
9. Evidence of recent professional development.
10. Basic IT/Computer skills

Special Skills / Aptitudes

Essential criteria

11. Excellent communication skills.
12. Excellent organisation and leadership ability.
13. Ability to work under pressure
