SEMH Tutor – Thatcham (Primary & Secondary)
Location: Thatcham (in-person tutoring)
Subjects: Maths & English (Primary and Secondary)
Rate: £20–£30 per hour (depending on experience)
Job Type: Part-time or full-time – flexible hours
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEMH Tutor to provide tailored one-to-one tuition in Thatcham, supporting students with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This includes learners experiencing anxiety, low confidence, and low self-esteem, who require patient and nurturing support to re-engage with education.
This role is open to tutors with experience in either primary or secondary education, who are confident delivering Maths and English in a flexible and person-centred way.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver individualised Maths and English sessions
* Assess student needs and develop bespoke schemes of work
* Adapt teaching methods to support emotional wellbeing and engagement
* Build strong, positive relationships with students to foster trust and motivation
* Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to support student development
Requirements:
* Experience working with students with SEMH needs (e.g. anxiety, low self-esteem)
* Confident teaching Maths and English at primary and/or secondary level
* Ability to assess, plan and deliver differentiated and accessible lessons
* Calm, patient, and compassionate approach to supporting young people
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
