GSL Education is working with an outstanding secondary school in Gateshead to find a dedicated and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. In this role, you’ll help students overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals.
Key Responsibilities of a SEMH Teaching Assistant:
* Support SEMH Students: Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage with their learning and manage emotions and behaviour.
* Assist Teachers: Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging lessons and adapt materials to suit the needs of SEMH students.
* Track Progress: Monitor and report on students' progress, identify areas for improvement, and celebrate achievements.
* Behaviour Management: Use effective strategies to encourage positive behaviour and address challenges.
* Emotional Support: Provide emotional support and guidance, helping students build resilience and coping strategies.
* Work with Others: Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach.
What You will Need to be a SEMH Teaching Assistant:
* Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or a related field.
* Experience: Prior experience working with SEMH students.
* Skills: Strong organisational, communication, and classroom management skills.
* Approach: A compassionate and understanding attitude towards supporting students.
* Adaptability: Ability to work flexibly in a secondary school environment.
* DBS Check: Must have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
