Barking & Dagenham college is on the lookout for a Digital Arts Lecturer to join our growing department on a part-time 18 hours per week permanent basis. The salary scale for the full time role is £26,514 - £46,307 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting, depending on qualifications and experience. This will be pro rata'd to 0.5 FTE. This is a vital role at the heart of our learner experience — leading student cohorts and driving outcomes while delivering high-quality education in a creative and forward-thinking environment. We are looking for; Job Purpose To deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across levels 1-3 video production, programmes. The post holder will inspire learners to develop strong technical, creative, and professional skills aligned with current industry practice, preparing them for progression into employment, apprenticeships, or higher education. Teaching & Learning Plan and deliver engaging lessons in video production and post-production. Teach practical and theoretical content including: Camera operation and cinematography Lighting and sound for video Pre-production planning and scripting Video editing and post-production workflows Motion graphics fundamentals Production roles, health and safety, and set etiquette Curriculum & Industry Engagement Contribute to curriculum development to ensure content remains current and industry-relevant. Use industry-standard equipment and software (e.g. cameras, lighting kits, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve). Maintain links with employers and industry partners. Support enrichment activities such as trips, live briefs, screenings, and showcases. Essential Strong knowledge and practical experience in video production and post-production. Experience using industry-standard video equipment and software. Ability to teach in a practical, studio and location-based environment. Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills. Commitment to inclusive practice and learner success. Desirable Teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, or willingness to work towards one). Experience teaching in FE, sixth form, or HE. Recent or relevant industry experience in film or video production. Experience delivering live briefs or employer-led projects. Additional Information The role may involve evening events, location shoots, trips, or employer engagement activities.
