Catering Support Worker

Job Title: Project Support Worker-Catering Department
Salary: Fixed term period of one year, hours and salary to be negotiated above minimum wage
Accountable to: Co-ordinator/ Assistant Co-ordinator.
Purpose of Role:
To work alongside a small team of volunteers/ staff members to provide a variety of foods to service users. Including the ordering and purchase of resources required. To support the community food provision service
Main Responsibilities:
1. To liaise with co-ordinator/ project manager and plan food schedule
2. To order/ purchase necessary resources to deliver a varied and cost effective, food service
3. To assist with the preparation of all foods / meals to comply with nutritional standards and cover special dietary and cultural needs.
4. To clean work areas, equipment, kitchen and dining areas.
5. To undertake all kitchen related washing up, utilising a clean as you go stance.
6. To ensure that the necessary standards of food hygiene are always met in relation to statutory regulations and organisational policy.
7. To hold appropriate qualifications / have fully traceable work history within the catering industry.
8. To undertake food hygiene and health and safety training as required.
9. To support other team members, understand and reach Food Hygiene and health and safety training appropriate to their positions.
10. To assist with deliveries and food storage to ensure goods are stored appropriately and in a timely manner to avoid spoilage.
11. Ensure that Health and Safety standards are always achieved.
12. Ensure that all equipment is working correctly and report any faults as swiftly as possible.
13. Ensure the correct usage and storage of cleaning materials.
14. To undertake practical tasks which require moving and handling, e.g. some tasks involve moving stores, large cooking containers, and the moving of loaded trolleys which can be heavy and awkward.
15. To participate in training and development activities as necessary to ensure up to date knowledge, skills and continuous professional development.
16. To ensure the dining room is set according to numbers this will include putting table up, putting chairs in place etc.
17. To ensure the promotion and support of Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.
18. To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, safeguarding, welfare, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
19. To undertake any other duties that are commensurate to the post
