We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded Group Financial Controller to join us at a genuinely exciting stage in our growth journey. This is more than a technical finance role. It’s an opportunity to step into a visible, hands-on leadership position where you’ll shape the future of the finance function and act as a trusted partner to the CFO and Senior Leadership Team. You’ll lead a motivated team of six, strengthen our financial infrastructure and help drive strategic decision-making across the business. The Opportunity As Group Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the full finance function across the Group. From delivering high-quality management information to leading audit, tax and statutory reporting, you will ensure strong financial governance while enabling growth. You’ll combine operational excellence with commercial insight — building a finance function that is both robust and forward-looking. This role is office based and ideal for a fully qualified accountant who thrives in an agile, fast-paced SME environment and enjoys leading from the front. What you'll be responsible for: Strategic & Commercial Impact ● Partnering closely with the CFO and SLT to support long-term financial planning and business growth ● Delivering insightful management reporting with meaningful analysis and commentary ● L eading the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting across the Group ● Supporting Divisional Managers with actionable financial insights and performance recommendations ● Developing financial models to support strategic decision-making Financial Control & Governance ● Full ownership of the month-end close process ● Strengthening balance sheet integrity and oversight of reconciliations ● Managing Group cashflow forecasting and working capital ● Ensuring robust financial controls and continuous process improvement ● Leading the year-end audit and statutory accounts process ● Overseeing compliance across VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE and related filings ● Managing payroll review and annual compliance processes (P11Ds, PSA etc.) Systems & Process Leadership ● Managing and optimising Microsoft Dynamics NAV (with future improvements in mind) ● Driving smarter reporting, workflows and automation ● Embedding scalable systems to support future growth Leadership & Team Development ● Leading, developing and structuring a high-performing finance function ● Coaching and mentoring team members ● Fostering a culture of accountability, curiosity and continuous improvement ● Acting as a key member of the Management Team and deputising for the CFO when required What We’re Looking For We’re seeking someone who combines technical strength with commercial awareness and leadership presence. ● Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) ● 5 years in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role ● Proven experience in a fast-paced, mid-sized or SME environment ● Strong financial and management accounting expertise ● Confident in budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling ● Deep understanding of cashflow management and balance sheet control ● Comfortable managing multiple priorities and projects ● Advanced Excel skills and strong systems capability (Dynamics experience helpful but not essential) But beyond qualifications, we’re looking for someone who: ● Thinks commercially and challenges constructively ● Builds trusted relationships across finance and non-finance teams ● Communicates financial insight clearly and confidently ● Balances detail with big-picture thinking ● Brings energy, resilience and a solutions-focused mindset.
