Payroll Administrator (Maternity Cover – Fixed Term – 12 month contract)
Full time – 35.5 hours per week. Salary: £24,826 - £25,511.
Responsibilities
* Process monthly payroll accurately and meet deadlines.
* Calculate payments and deductions such as overtime, allowances, SMP, SSP and salary variations.
* Maintain employee records, including bank changes, starters, leavers and tax code updates.
* Support colleagues across the College with payroll queries professionally and in a customer‑focused way.
* Produce accurate data, reports and management information when required.
* Work closely with HR to ensure employee changes are processed efficiently.
* Use HR/Payroll systems (including CHRIS) and Microsoft Office to manage data effectively.
* Support process improvements, team projects and continuous development of the service.
* Carry out general administrative duties including correspondence, filing and email management.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Experience working in payroll and/or a busy administrative role.
* Ability to organise workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
* Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
* Experience using HR or payroll information systems.
* GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
