Join our small, friendly team as an Apprentice in Finance, where you will gain valuable hands-on experience in a supportive environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to launch your career with an established engineering company.

Wage

£14,526.20 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices

Hours
Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm. Friday 8am to 2:45pm.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.


What you'll do at work

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

* Assisting with purchase and sales ledger processing
* Matching invoices with purchase orders
* Filing and data entry
* General administrative tasks
* Liaising with customers and suppliers
* Receiving and booking material
* Assisting with stock control
* Maintaining petty cash records
* Gradually taking on all duties involved in a small accounts department
* Checking office labour bookings for payroll

What you'll learn

Course contents

* Record transactional data.
* Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
* Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
* Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
* Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
* Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
* Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

* The Apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in Accounts or finance assistant.
* The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated assessor who will provide support and guidance throughout the course.
* This is a Day Release programme, which means you will attend Lincoln College, one day per week, term time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths and English (grade A*/9 – C/4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
