The Role:
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to develop their career within our highways team.
Responsibilities include working with an operational team to maintain, upgrade, and repair the street lighting network across the borough. Occasionally, you will assist maintenance teams with minor highway work, including maintaining street lighting infrastructure, installing lighting columns, signs, and bollards, and assisting electricians with excavations.
This role requires working outside normal office hours, supporting standby and callout arrangements, including evenings and weekends, to meet service needs.
About You:
You should be capable of performing physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and standing, and be able to work at heights up to 12 metres. You should understand the various types of plant and machinery used in operational tasks and possess the skills to operate them.
Work must be carried out safely, following instructions and interpreting information such as statutory undertakers and engineering drawings.
You will need to complete essential paperwork and have practical knowledge of electrical health & safety legislation and guidelines.
