ABOUT ME
I am a young man in my 20s diagnosed with Severe Learning Disability, Mucopolysaccharidosis Type III (Sanfilipo Syndrome), a degenerative, life-limiting disease. It causes speech and developmental delays, respiratory infections, sleep issues, and behavioral challenges such as compulsive behaviors and hyperactivity. I also experience Anxiety, Autistic Tendencies, and Sleep Apnea.
This is what I have, not who I am!
I live independently in my own bungalow near my family, who are involved in my care. I communicate using short sentences, pictures, gestures, and vocalizations, and can also use WidgetGo and PECs.
My preferred activities include sitting, humming, reading, and engaging in repetitive activities like puzzles and watching familiar TV programs. I enjoy outdoor activities like walking my dog, trampolining, riding my tripod bike, swimming, playing football, and sailing.
ABOUT YOU
I am looking for experienced personal assistants or support workers to support me on a 2:1 basis. Responsibilities include personal care, nutrition, hydration, medication, social and physical activities, community access, and emotional support.
Ideal candidates are calm, caring, positive, patient, reliable, and excellent communicators. They should be able to swim and support my swimming activities. Experience with positive behavior support and understanding of challenging behaviors are essential.
Support workers should be able to engage with my family and dog, demonstrate professionalism, promote independence, and respect my home. They will follow my care plans, risk assessments, and protocols, recognizing triggers and using least-restrictive strategies.
Full, clean driving licenses are required for community access, and IT skills are necessary. Non-smokers preferred.
BENEFITS
In return, you will receive a competitive hourly rate, paid holiday, bank holiday pay, and additional benefits such as training, pension scheme, wellbeing tools, and rewards.
