I’m currently working with a well established freight forwarding business in Dartford that’s looking for an experienced Ocean Import & Export Operator to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy operations role and wants to work with a company that truly values its staff.
Location: Dartford, UK
Salary: Up to £40,000 + Benefits
Type: Full-Time | Permanent
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing ocean import and export shipments from start to finish — coordinating with overseas agents, carriers, and hauliers, handling customs processes, and ensuring clients receive a seamless service. This is a hands-on role where your industry knowledge and problem-solving skills will be put to good use.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee full-cycle ocean freight operations (import & export)
* Liaise with shipping lines, hauliers, and overseas partners
* Prepare Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists
* Track and trace shipments, keeping customers updated
* Troubleshoot issues and minimise delays
* Maintain compliance with UK & international shipping regulations
* Handle job invoicing, costings, and accurate records
What My Client Is Looking For
* Experience in ocean freight forwarding (both import & export)
* Knowledge of UK customs systems & processes (CDS)
* Track record managing shipments from booking through delivery
* Highly organised with attention to detail
* UK-based freight forwarding background (essential)
