Looking for a fresh start in a vibrant island community? The States of Guernsey, in partnership with Red Snapper Recruitment, invites experienced and qualified criminal justice professionals to apply for the role of Probation Officer within the Guernsey Probation Service.
This is an exciting opportunity to creat an impact and work in a unique setting-supporting rehabilitation, promoting public safety, and reducing re-offending in one of the most picturesque and secure jurisdictions in the British Isles.
About the Role
As a Probation Officer, you'll be at the frontline of offender management and rehabilitation, working directly with individuals in the community and in custody to support behavioural change, enforce court orders, and protect the public. You'll deliver cognitive and behavioural interventions and manage complex risk cases including sexual and violent offenders. You'll also play a vital role in advising the courts and developing multi-agency safety plans under MAPPA.
What You'll Need
A relevant professional qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, Probation Qualification or equivalent)
Experience working within the criminal justice system and a strong understanding of probation practice
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust and maintain boundaries
Strong risk assessment and report-writing capabilities
Expertise in behaviour change work and delivering structured interventions
The ability to work flexibly-this role may include secondment to the Prison's Offender Management Unit
