Vinney Green Secure Children’s Home offers young people a safe and caring environment, where they experience high quality care, education, recreational facilities, and life skills training.
As a School Instructor, you will join our education team playing a vital role in helping to provide our young people with high quality education.
What you will be doing
* Daily, you will encourage our young people to engage in activities and empower them to play an active role in their learning.
* Working alongside our subject teachers, you will help to implement lessons, review targets and maintain reports.
* It will be your responsibility to supervise classes in the teacher’s absence.
What we need from you
* We require you to have a good standard of education including English and maths alongside an NVQ 3 teaching assistant qualification or equivalent.
* Given the elements of this role, you must have previous experience working alongside children and young people.
What you need to know
* The salary is plus a Secure Unit allowance of £2,583 per annum. Annual leave can be taken during term time (subject to manager approval).
* Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained.
The young people can present physically threatening behaviour and the environment can become tense and anxiety provoking, so for everybody’s safety surveillance cameras are in use in most areas of the building.
Vinney Green operates a full non-smoking environment, and there is no provision to facilitate smoking anywhere on site. Staff’s personal belongings are required to be left in a provided locker on entry into the building and we may require you to undertake a further physical fitness check.
This role is demanding and there will be some physical active aspects to the job, but we can assure you that this will be one of the most rewarding jobs that you will ever do!
It is anticipated that interviews will be held on 13th May 2025.
