The Hospital Sterile Services Unit (HSSU) plays a vital role in transporting sterile and disinfected surgical equipment to the local hospital network. As an HSSU Coordinator at our Glasgow Hospital, you will combine basic computer literacy with strong organisation skills. You will process used surgical instruments for dispatch, receive sterile surgical equipment, and support the theatre team to ensure smooth operation.
Decontamination qualification and experience within a decontamination setting is essential.
Responsibilities
* Move and handle trays and items of various weights and sizes
* Be competent in following strict infection‑prevention standards for the decontamination of endoscopic equipment.
* Maintain accurate records and keep documentation up to date
* Dispose of contaminated waste in accordance with hospital policy
* Regularly check that our equipment is in good working order and all faults are reported
* Maintain a clean and tidy working environment
* Take action to rectify any problems and escalating issues where necessary
