1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School, Leigh
Start Date: After October half term
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary (potential for permanent placement)
Daily Pay Rate: £90 - £100
A caring and inclusive primary school in Leigh is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN) to join their welcoming school community. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning within a supportive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with identified SEN, promoting engagement, independence, and confidence.
* Adapt learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo to meet the child’s individual needs.
* Support inclusion within the classroom and wider school activities, ensuring the child feels valued and supported.
* Liaise regularly with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents/carers to ensure consistent communication and effective strategies.
* Assist in preparing learning materials and maintaining a safe, organised, and engaging learning environment.
Requirements:
* Professional or personal experience supporting children with SEN (such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or other additional needs).
* Holds or is willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (can be processed through Teaching Personnel).
* Demonstrates empathy, patience, and adaptability when supporting pupils with diverse needs.
* Communicates effectively with staff, pupils, and families to promote progress and wellbeing.
* Shows a positive, proactive attitude and a genuine commitment to supporting children’s learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
