Breakfast Club Play Worker (Part time) – Fixed term contract until 31 August 2026
Reporting to: The Head Teacher/Deputy Manager
Grade A Scale Point 2 £9,197 - £9,341 per annum (actual salary)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:40am – 8:40am and 3:10pm – 5:30pm. Term time only.
Start date: Immediate start
The governors of Horwich Parish C.E Primary School are looking to appoint a successful wrap-around school club play worker who is passionate, highly motivated, enthusiastic and hard working.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the operation of a before school and after school club, in accordance with agreed policies, to provide high quality childcare and appropriate play opportunities for all children attending the club, including liaison with parents and other appropriate agencies.
* Provide safe, inclusive, high-quality play and care, meeting children’s individual needs, supervising activities and outings, providing refreshments, and collecting/dropping off children as necessary.
* Prepare health snacks for children and escort them to their classes in time for registration.
* Offer creative, developmentally appropriate play opportunities in a safe, child-centred environment, using a Children’s Rights-Based approach.
* Provide support for children with specific additional requirements (e.g., autism, ADHD, or a physical disability) after appropriate training.
* Assist in programme planning and prepare appropriate activities.
* Encourage parental and community involvement and support for the club; participate in events to raise the club’s profile.
* Support the development of the club and strive to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
* Liaise with parents, schools and other agencies to promote the club and ensure children or young people’s well-being.
* Ensure premises and equipment are kept clean and safe; take responsibility for security when necessary, in line with Health and Safety legislation.
* Administer first aid when appropriately qualified, as required.
* Support the Deputy Manager in working towards Ofsted standards.
* Work within agreed policies, maintain good practice, and carry out responsibilities within an equal opportunities framework.
* Wear a uniform if provided and display identification when working in the relevant Club.
* Work flexibly, including early mornings, afternoons and evenings.
The post holder may reasonably be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility that may be allocated, at the discretion of the Head Teacher to meet the needs of the school.
