Are you a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with experience working in power generation, heavy manufacturing or a process plant environment?

Working as part of the site maintenance team, you will help keep the plant operating safely, reliably and efficiently. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, respond to breakdowns and support inspections, outages and plant improvement projects.

The role would suit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Technician, Maintenance Technician, Plant Engineer or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical bias.

The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Role

As Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will work as part of the site maintenance team to maximise plant availability and reduce equipment downtime.

You will maintain a range of industrial equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and wider process plant machinery.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance
• Responding to plant breakdowns and equipment failures
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and basic electrical issues
• Repairing pumps, gearboxes, valves, motors and conveyors
• Completing routine inspections and condition monitoring
• Supporting plant modifications and reliability improvements
• Assisting with planned outages and major maintenance activity
• Recording completed maintenance work accurately using the site CMMS
• Supporting spare-parts and maintenance-stock control
• Following site procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work
• Supporting pressure-system and lifting-equipment compliance
• Participating in the 1 in 4 call-out rota

What Were Looking For

We are looking for a practical, safety-conscious engineer with strong mechanical maintenance experience gained within an industrial environment.

You will ideally have:

• A Level 3 engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent
• Mechanical maintenance experience within a process plant, manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
• Experience completing planned and reactive maintenance
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
• Experience working with pumps, gearboxes, valves, motors, conveyors, hydraulics or pneumatics
• Good health and safety awareness
• Basic IT and maintenance-reporting skills
• Experience using a CMMS or maintenance-management system
• The ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team

Experience gained within power generation, renewable energy, chemicals, refining, steel, utilities or heavy manufacturing would be particularly relevant.

Knowledge of steam systems, water treatment, pressure systems, lifting equipment or Piranha CMMS would be advantageous but is not essential. IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications would also be beneficial.

About You

You will be a reliable and practical engineer who enjoys investigating faults, completing effective repairs and helping to improve plant performance.

Previous experience within this specific type of power plant is not essential. However, you must have credible mechanical maintenance experience and be comfortable working on industrial equipment within a live, safety-critical process environment.
