Here at Serco, we're looking for a proactive and capable Core Data Lead to be an integral part of our Core Data Team. This hands-on role combines valuable technical expertise—especially in SAP—with effective people management abilities.

As Core Data Lead, you will be accountable for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of HR data across all our systems, driving timely resolution of interface failures, and leading continuous process improvements. You will manage and prioritise ticket volumes, support onshore and offshore teams, and ensure the delivery of a high-performing HRIS service aligned with KPIs and SLAs.

This role is not just about people management—it's about being a confident problem solver and change implementer who isn't afraid to get stuck into technical challenges, process redesign, and improving the overall HR data ecosystem.

As part of this you'll:

1. Lead, motivate, and develop the Core Data Team to meet annual objectives and service levels.
2. Manage day-to-day team activities including prioritising and resolving system and data issues.
3. Act as the process owner for core HR systems, ensuring accurate data maintenance and interface integrity.
4. Collaborate closely with stakeholders to transition HR system-related projects into business-as-usual smoothly.
5. Recommend and implement changes to systems and processes to improve customer experience and data reliability.
6. Support key HR operational events such as TUPE transfers, pay reviews, and leave renewals with appropriate resource planning.
7. Handle escalations, complaints, and ensure team wellbeing is supported.
8. Provide expert guidance on business processes, HR system functionality, and data management to People Services teams.
9. Identify knowledge gaps and drive team training and development.

What you'll need to do the role:

* Proven experience leading teams with strong people management skills.
* Solid technical knowledge of SAP HCM and EIC (CRM), with a willingness to engage in the technical side of the role. Knowledge of Appian is advantageous.
* Familiarity with payroll and other ERP systems is advantageous.
* Strong understanding of operational HR and HRIS solutions.
* Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills.
* Commercially aware with a pragmatic, customer-focused approach.
* Advanced Excel skills and ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
* Confident in implementing change and process improvements.
* Strong communication skills with credibility to influence at all organisational levels.
