Job Description:
AXA XL has built a sizeable, market leading Product Recall business and we are looking for an experienced Underwriter to provide cover during a period of maternity leave. The successful candidate will have significant autonomy as well as access to the proprietary tools and resources necessary to develop this successful business even further. Building and maintaining collaborative partnerships with brokers and clients will be critical and includes our claims capabilities which are at the heart of our promise.
Our Product Recall business is primarily written in the London Market and reports into our Head of Crisis Management, alongside War, Terrorism and Political Violence, and Security Risks. You would work closely with other teams to serve important Clients of AXA XL and also benefit from our emerging risks work on the risks of the future.
This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland's Fitness and Probity regime.
Whatyou'll be doing
What will your essential responsibilities include?
* Underwrite, manage and service a renewal book and produce new business in accordance with business unit goals..
* Exercise discretion and self-directed judgment in the analysis and evaluation of risk.
* Participate in roundtable discussions on risk assessment and provide mentorship and leadership to peers.
* Negotiate with producers within the limits of delegated authority and in accordance with established underwriting standards to achieve profit objectives.
* Build and enhance relationships with brokers and clients and identify and establish new distribution relationships.
* Maintain expertise with the products, services, priorities and target markets to more effectively enable clients to uncover hidden risks.
* Maintain compliance with all internal and external underwriting guidelines and legal requirements.
* Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.
* Identify and drive new product development opportunities. Effectively cross-market with other XL lines; meet with brokers and insureds as required. Cultivate key broker relationships in the region to maintain a steady stream of business within our underwriting appetite.
* Provide guidance and assistance to other underwriters and associates and other functional areas.
You will report to Head of Product Recall, UK & Lloyd's.
Whatyou'll bring
We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent industry certifications)
* Possess a good level of technical underwriting knowledge and skills including relevant product & industry.
* Able to apply business understanding and/or management experience to set direction within the segment or function.
* You should possess analytical and problem-solving skills as well as sales and marketing abilities.
* Exceptional organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills combined with an excellent work ethic.
* Knowledge of functionality of systems.
* Ability to work self-supported.
* Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
* Customer service and negotiation skills. A proven track record in development of business relationships with brokers and insureds
