The Pharmacy Department has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated Pharmacist to join the team. As a key member of the Oncology and Aseptic teams you will work directly alongside Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Non-Medical Prescribers, Pharmacy staff and the wider Healthcare team.
The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering clinical Pharmacy Services across a range of specialties. You will be committed to providing highly specialist professional, clinical and scientific information and advice to Multidisciplinary Healthcare staff, patients and carers, using excellent communication and mentoring skills. The role requires strong prioritisation and time‑management abilities to work efficiently and effectively as part of the wider healthcare team. A dedication to patient safety and outstanding medicines management is essential.
The Oncology and Aseptic Pharmacy team comprises Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Assistant Technical Officers. The role includes a weekly late duty and participation in the on‑call, weekend and bank‑holiday rota, with opportunities for training and development.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Supervise aseptic processes and product approval as an authorised pharmacist.
* Support the clinical Pharmacy service in specialist oncology ward areas.
* Develop and implement standard operating procedures, quality systems, internal audits and continuous improvements within the Aseptic unit.
* Tutor pre‑registration pharmacy graduates and supervise less experienced pharmacists, technicians and students.
* Work within multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and clinically effective use of medicines for oncology and haematology patients on inpatient wards and outpatient chemotherapy units.
* Collaborate with the Quality Management System to improve the aseptic service, completing audits, change controls, root cause analyses, SOPs and trust guidelines.
* Participate in inpatient and outpatient dispensing services, on‑call, weekend and bank‑holiday services.
You will be a non‑medical independent prescriber or working towards this qualification.
