Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support our educational team in providing a nurturing and effective learning environment for students in our SENd Hub for KS2 children. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children who have a range of needs in particular Communication and Interaction needs. This role is essential in fostering an inclusive atmosphere that encourages growth and development for all students.
The Firs is an Independent Prep school with all year round Nursery and Dedicated SENd hub based in the beautiful city of Chester and run by the same family for the last 3 generations.
Duties
* Assist the lead teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities tailored to the needs of each student.
* Provide one-on-one support to students with autism and other disabilities, helping them to engage with the curriculum effectively.
* Facilitate small group activities that promote social interaction and collaborative learning among students.
* Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to the lead teacher on individual achievements and challenges.
* Support students during playtime and other non-classroom activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes learning.
* Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise.
Skills
* Experience working with people with autism or other additional learning needs is highly desirable.
* Strong teaching skills, with a passion for educating young learners.
* Previous experience with children in an educational setting is essential.
* Knowledge of special education practices and strategies to support diverse learning needs.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff members.

Pay: £12.21-£13.63 per hour
