Senior Electrical Engineer – Artemis Technologies
Reporting Line: The Senior Electrical Engineer will report directly to the Head of Electrical Engineering.
Location: Unit 1 Oakbank, Channel Commercial Park, Queens Road, Titanic Quarter, Belfast, BT3 9DT.
Department: Electrical Engineering – responsible for the electrical design and integration of all vessel sub‑systems. Collaborates closely with Control Systems, Naval Architecture, Propulsion, Mechanical Systems, Energy Solutions, Design Tools, Compliance and Vessel Operations to develop ground‑breaking zero‑emissions foiling vessel technologies.
Role: Responsible for the development and implementation of Vessel Electrical Architectures, power distribution systems, control system hardware integration, sub‑system electrical design and integration, including Thermal Systems, Steering Systems, Flight Control, Propulsion, Energy Storage System (ESS), Alerting and Monitoring, Safety Systems and Cabin systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead development of electrical distribution systems including selection of components, HV/LV harnesses, interconnections, control panels, cabling and associated support structures.
* Develop electrical architectures, schematics, wiring harness drawings, BOMs and system overviews.
* Lead engineering design reviews, assessing the impacts of proposed changes and providing expert guidance to ensure optimal design and implementation.
* Guarantee cohesive working between engineering teams and other related departments to ensure all design aspects are considered for electrical integrations.
* Support creation and update of ATL electrical standards and manufacturing drawings.
* Mentor and provide training to graduates and new starters.
* Peer‑review and approve electrical drawings.
* Develop grounding strategies, equipotential bonding, lightning protection systems and galvanic protection systems.
Qualifications / Personal Specification
* Holder of a Bachelor (BSc/BEng) degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar.
* 3+ years working in or towards an Electrical Engineering position.
* Extensive experience in lieu of education requirements will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
Key Skills Required
* Experience working with LV DC (24V), HV DC (>600V), 230VAC and 400VAC Electrical.
* Experience working on Electric, Hydrogen, and/or Hybrid propulsion systems.
* Knowledge of Electrical CAD packages (Zuken E3, EPlan or similar).
* Experience using AutoCAD (2D) and/or Catia (3D).
* Ability to perform electrical load calculations and create wiring harnesses.
* Knowledge of CAN physical layer and electrical safety standards.
* Experience leading electrical projects from concept through delivery.
* Strong report writing skills – clear, concise, and well structured.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate with other departments.
* Organisational and task‑management skills.
* Team‑working and problem‑solving abilities.
