Base pay range
Position: Control Systems Engineer
We are looking for a skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our team, working across a diverse range of sectors including Automotive, Food & Beverage, Aerospace, Pharmaceutical, Book Printing, and Logistics.
You will be responsible for designing and developing control software for a variety of programmable control systems, primarily using Siemens S7, TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Bosch Rexroth CoDeSys, and other PLC and safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop PLC software from first principles (ideally Siemens S7 Classic and/or TIA Portal; Rockwell Studio 5000 also considered)
* Develop and validate safety software in accordance with safety matrices
* Configure and commission Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
* Program using STL and/or Instruction List (IL) languages
* Work with ProfiNet or similar industrial communication systems
* Read and interpret electrical schematics
* Perform basic electrical fault finding using a multimeter
* Produce technical documentation such as Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals
* Use Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in PLC software development
* Strong experience with Siemens S7, TIA Portal, or Rockwell Studio 5000
* Familiarity with safety software development and validation
* Proficient in reading electrical drawings and troubleshooting
* Excellent written and spoken English (due to UK‑based client communication)
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills
* Experience in robot design and commissioning: KUKA, ABB, FANUC
* Motion control experience with Siemens, Rockwell, Bosch
* CNC system experience with Siemens, Bosch, FANUC
Nice to Have
* Machine safety training
* Experience with vision systems
* Familiarity with EPlan P8 for electrical design
