Overview
We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Support Workers with a specialisation in SEMH, to provide vital support in a specialist setting in Huddersfield. These are full-time long-term positions, starting immediately, with the potential to become permanent roles. Experience with SEMH and behaviours that challenge, de-escalation techniques; Team Teach training beneficial but not essential. Passionate about helping students with SEMH thrive and make progress in their education.
Responsibilities
* Have experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH or additional learning needs.
* Support students\' emotional, social, and academic growth.
* Demonstrate a positive, patient, and adaptable approach when working with SEMH students.
* Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons while maintaining a calm, supportive classroom environment.
* Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with varying needs.
Skills and Qualifications
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, grade C or above.
* Additional qualifications or experience in special educational needs (SEN) or intervention programs.
* Team Teach training is beneficial but not essential.
* Ability to tailor learning and interventions to meet the needs of individual pupils.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
* Knowledge of strategies for supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
* Ability to work effectively with children from diverse backgrounds, showing patience and empathy.
* Able to stay focused and positive in a fast-paced school environment.
