Overview
Our Flex division produces a range of flexible plastic films, with our site in Wigan manufacturing products for major food retailers and suppliers. We are now recruiting for a Manufacturing Ink Team Leader! You will be responsible for ensuring that high quality inks within the department are made and maintained and that your role is conducted in a safe and controlled manner in line with the required standards and operating procedures. You will lead and support the ink team to achieve production and quality objectives, while understanding customer requirements for colour specifications and ensuring they are met to the highest possible standard. Responsibilities
* Work to site Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards (BRC, ISO, A2).
* Lead and support the ink team, providing training, guidance and performance feedback.
* Manage ink and solvent stock levels, including ordering and acting as deputy for the in‑plant ink supplier.
* Key SAP user for the Ink department; maintain formulations and job data in Rexson.
* Produce inks to exact colour specifications, ensuring consistency, accuracy and "right first time" standards.
* Coordinate with Printing, Quality and Planning teams to support efficient production flow and colour control.
* Oversee completion of job sheets, QC checks, traceability and correct labelling.
* Maintain a clean, safe workspace and follow lean/5S/SMED practices.
* Maximise use of press returns, ensure 24‑36 hour ink supply, and manage IFS6/eXact/IQC systems.
* Support printers with minor adjustments and update recipes, process controls and ink standards as needed.
Qualifications
* Forklift truck licence essential (training provided).
* X‑rite equipment trained and Rexson system software trained to a high level.
* Colour theory, colour matching and formulation knowledge.
* Knowledge of density and dot gain and opacity.
* Good understanding of continuous improvement techniques, e.g. lean & 5S.
* Exposure to quality, health, safety and environmental standards and practices within a production setting.

Salary & Benefits
Salary: £31,200 per annum + Excellent Benefits! Contract: Full time, Permanent – shift patterns detailed below.
