Construction Teacher – Alternative Provision (Part-Time or Full-Time)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic Construction Teacher to join a supportive alternative provision in Oldham. This role is ideal for someone who is motivated, patient, and committed to helping students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) thrive both academically and personally.
This position offers the chance to deliver engaging, practical lessons that provide students with essential trade skills while building their confidence and future career opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Construction Skills from Entry Level up to BTEC Level 2, focusing on hands-on learning and employability.
* Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment with high expectations for all learners.
* Plan and deliver well-structured lessons tailored to individual needs and abilities.
* Adapt teaching strategies and resources to support a wide range of learning requirements.
* Develop and update schemes of work in line with curriculum and accreditation standards.
* Promote positive behaviour and manage classroom conduct effectively.
* Teach both practical and theoretical elements of construction, ensuring students gain valuable industry-relevant skills.
Qualifications & Experience
* A recognised teaching qualification (minimum Level 3) – desirable.
* Strong occupational background in construction (bricklaying, carpentry, electrics, plumbing, etc.) – essential.
* Experience in teaching and lesson planning.
* Experience working with young people, particularly those with additional or complex needs – desirable.
* Knowledge of behaviour management and the ability to tailor learning to individual students.
* A qualification in construction – essential.
