Project Manager (Utilities & Water Infrastructure)
Location: Cardiff / South Wales
Salary: £65,000 + company car / allowance + benefits
Job Type: Permanent
A growing regional civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint a Project Manager to lead delivery across utilities and water infrastructure projects throughout South Wales.
The business operates across established frameworks and repeat client relationships, delivering schemes within utilities, water and associated infrastructure. With a strong secured pipeline, this role offers stability, autonomy and long-term progression.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of projects from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring safe, efficient and commercially controlled delivery across multiple schemes.
Working closely with senior management, site teams and commercial functions, you’ll play a key role in maintaining programme performance, client relationships and delivery standards.
Key responsibilities:
* Leading the day-to-day delivery of utilities and water infrastructure projects
* Managing site teams, subcontractors and supply chain performance
* Driving programme, planning and coordination across live schemes
* Maintaining commercial control, including variations and cost tracking
* Acting as the main client interface on project delivery matters
* Ensuring full compliance with HSEQ standards and framework requirements
* Supporting pre-construction, planning and mobilisation activities
About You
You’ll be an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in utilities and/or water infrastructure, comfortable leading schemes from start to finish.
This role requires a clear background in utilities or water-led environments and is not suited to predominantly groundworks or general civils experience.
You’ll have:
* Proven experience delivering utilities or water infrastructure projects (essential)
* Experience working within framework environments or repeat-client models
* Strong understanding of NEC contracts
* Experience managing site teams and subcontractors
* Ability to drive programme performance and manage delivery risk
SMSTS, CSCS and full UK driving licence required.
Desirable:
* Experience working with water authorities or utility providers
* Knowledge of the South Wales market and supply chain
