Activity Co-ordinator - Positions available across the wards at Basildon Mental Health Unit
Under the guidance of the Ward Manager, you will assist in delivering recreational activities within the service. Activities may include creative, social, and physical activities, delivered one-to-one or in groups, mostly on the ward environment. Flexibility is required, including working weekdays, early evenings, and weekends.
Main duties of the job
* Liaise with ward staff to plan recreational activities.
* Lead recreational activities with groups and individual patients.
* Prepare craft and other equipment before activities.
* Maintain supplies and inform the ward manager of shortages.
* Develop rapport with patients to encourage participation.
* Communicate with nursing staff to understand patients' needs.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to align with therapeutic plans.
* Observe patient behavior and responses to activities.
* Be aware of situations that may make patients vulnerable or at risk.
* Report concerns immediately to qualified staff.
* Respect patient confidentiality and choices.
* Record interventions as per agreed formats.
* Perform other delegated tasks suitable to your grade and experience.
