About Us

Lauren Gilberthorpe Interiors is a Cotswold-based interior design studio, founded in 2015. We are a vibrant group of twelve, working across residential interior design in the UK. We relish the chance to create not just beautiful spaces, but personal ones. We make it our mission to dig deep, to get beneath the beautiful and understand our clients; who they are, how they live and how they want to feel in their home.

Our Work

At LGI, building strong relationships with our clients is at the heart of our work. We collaborate closely with them to understand how they envision their living spaces, helping them explore their unique tastes and styles. Our goal is to guide clients in making informed decisions, ultimately crafting thoughtfully designed, functional, and beautiful environments that suit their lifestyles.

We bring together decades of design expertise, driven by a shared passion for creating comfortable and sophisticated interiors. Our team of interior designers, architects, and administrators works harmoniously to deliver the highest level of service. Through strong relationships and collective creativity, we provide an exceptional experience and ensure every client’s vision becomes a reality.

Job Summary

This is a hybrid role that combines the insight and oversight of a Financial Controller with the hands-on precision of a Bookkeeper. You will manage everything from day-to-day bookkeeping and invoicing to budgets, cashflow, forecasting, and financial reporting. You’ll work closely with the Managing Director and our external accountants, helping to maintain clean records, monitor financial performance, and support commercial decision-making. This is a part-time role (2–3 days per week) based at our studio in the Cotswolds.

Who We’re Looking For

* An experienced finance professional with both strategic capability and practical bookkeeping skills

* Detail-oriented, hands-on, and highly organised with strong time management
* A clear, calm communicator able to present financial information to both finance and non-finance team members
* Proactive and solutions-focused, with a keen eye for improving systems and processes
* A team player who thrives in a collaborative, creative, fast-paced environment
* Experience in project-based businesses, design studios, or creative industries is a plus

Role Requirements

* Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent preferred)
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance roles, ideally within SMEs or agency settings
* Proven experience in both bookkeeping and financial control
* Advanced Excel skills and confidence using QuickBooks (essential)
* Experience preparing budgets, cashflow forecasts, and monthly reports
* Understanding of VAT, payroll processes, and HMRC compliance
* Familiarity with managing project costs and tracking profitability

Role Responsibilities

* Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks (reconciliations, invoices, expenses, supplier payments)
* Monitor and manage cashflow for short-term commitments and long-term planning
* Prepare monthly cashflow updates and financial summaries for decision-making and Management Accounts
* Track project-level profitability across both design fees and procurement income; highlight risks or inefficiencies early
* Work closely with the procurement team to monitor spend, ensure margin targets, and support reporting
* Run monthly payroll, including tracking hours and liaising as needed
* Collaborate with the MD on budgeting, pipeline forecasting, and planning for hires, overheads, and pricing
* Support client invoicing, payment schedules, and credit control to maintain predictable, stable cashflow
* Liaise with the accountant on VAT, payroll, and compliance deadlines to ensure timely, accurate reporting
* Refine and maintain internal financial processes to support clarity, control, and visibility
* Act as a commercial sounding board for the MD, offering a calm and grounded financial perspective
