Band 5 Outpatients Hove Poly Clinic

An opportunity has become available for a full time, 37.5 hour per week, Band 5 nurse to join our small but motivated & creative teamworking in a friendly and supportive environment in The Outpatient Department at Hove Poly Clinic. It is a satellite unit, currently open from Monday to Friday and the working pattern usually consists of 3 shifts from 0800 - 1800 and one shift from 0800 - 1730 hrs. The days of work are dependent on the needs of the department and how many clinics are operational on each day.
The department runs clinics covering many different specialities, offering care to patients from a wide-ranging demographic, many with complex health needs which provides a variety of activities and job satisfaction. Clinics range from medical and surgical cardiology, ophthalmology, respiratory, neurology, digestive diseases and care of the elderly. Therefore, experience in outpatients and the specialities is helpful but training can be provided for any areas required for the successful applicant.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to work within clinics providing care for patients. This may include clinical measurements, phlebotomy, undertaking ECG's and OCT ophthalmology scans. Training can be provided for the successful candidate in any of these areas if required.
You will be expected to assist in the supervision, assessment and ongoing education of junior staff and student nurses. You will have the opportunity to work with a practice educator to help facilitate your own professional development and gain the necessary competencies required in the various clinics.
You will need to be a team player with a proven ability in delivering high quality care as well as strong clinical skills. On occasion, you will be required to deputise for senior staff and be responsible for the day to day running of the Department.
The need to be able to undertake audits and assist in implementing any changes arising from these audits will also be a necessary part of the role.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role-specific criteria. For example, applicants for the Senior HCA role must be able to evidence a minimum of 2 years experience in the same role to qualify for sponsorship.

To deliver safe, competent, and compassionate care to all patients attending clinic reviews and minor procedures.
To work unsupervised, as an effective, flexible team player.
To deputise in the absence of senior staff, ensuring continuity of care for patients attending The Outpatient Department.
To run and support a variety of medical, surgical and nurse-led clinics
To assess patients holistically, and refer or delegate appropriately to multidisciplinary or community teams as required.
Assist the Nurse Manager and team in meeting divisional goals and speciality targets.
Person Specification
* Registered General Nurse NMC with current pin number
* I.T. Skills
* Evidence of being able to give and receive complex and sensitive information
* Evidence of working within codes of practice
* Practice Supervisor and Assessor
* Undertake visual acuities and OCT scans
* Able to perform ECG's
* Able to perform Spirometry
* Shows a passion to work in Outpatient Department
* Shows willingness to learn any new skills required
