Job overview
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is appointing a full-time Locum Consultant in Rheumatology including Metabolic Bone Disease to support an expanding department.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Rheumatology at OUHFT, known for excellence. We seek enthusiastic colleagues skilled in general rheumatology, early inflammatory arthritis, and metabolic bone disease. The department has strong academic links to the University of Oxford.
The position is full-time, but applications from those wishing to job share, work part-time, or combine clinical work with research or teaching are welcome. Candidates with academic and subspecialty interests are encouraged to discuss available opportunities.
Applicants are encouraged to visit the departments and contact Dr. Chris Speers, Clinical Lead for Rheumatology, or Professor Muhammad K Javaid, Clinical Lead for Metabolic Bone Disease, for more information.
The main duties include providing consultant services primarily at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, with flexibility to work at other Trust locations. The role involves managing patients with metabolic bone diseases, supporting fracture prevention, and contributing to service development and governance. Initially, support for rare adult bone diseases and inpatient elective care are not required.
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a teaching hospital. The post involves participation in teaching medical students, training junior doctors, and clinical examinations. Opportunities for research, teaching, and leadership development are available and encouraged.
