Offer description

Community Support Worker - Domiciliary Care and Supported Living (STEPS)
Salary - £25,066 per annum

Full time - 37.5 hours per week
Location - Chalfont St Peter & Aylesbury Areas, Buckinghamshire

It is an exciting time to join us, and we hope you will be inspired by what we do and recognise our potential to do even more.

As a Community Support Worker your duties are varied. You might support a person to go to college, the shops, or a show in London. The duties may include some support with personal care needs, as well as providing help to take part in a wide range of special interest and activities that support our resident’s health & wellbeing such as arts and crafts, watching footie, drama, or shopping trips. You must be a driver with a full UK driving Licence and access to your own vehicle.

STEPS is the Supported Living and Domiciliary (home) Care Service of Epilepsy Society providing care and support in the Chalfont and Aylesbury area. We are registered with CQC and are a specialist service for people with epilepsy and/or associated complex needs, non-epileptic attack disorder, learning difficulties or other disabilities.

Support is tailored individually to the person to enable them to maintain positive lifestyles in their own home and local community.

Whilst everyone at the Society has epilepsy, and often a learning disability or mental/physical health needs, the people we support are individuals. Some will rely on you to get through the day. For some, you’ll simply make it more fun.

Building strong bonds with the people we support’s families and our wider team, our Support Workers soon start feeling like one of the family. It’s a rare privilege, and an opportunity to achieve your potential - whilst helping others to reach theirs too.

What we can offer you

* 27 days annual leave + bank holidays, with the ability to buy and sell annual leave
* A generous Employee Referral Scheme (refer a friend to join our team and earn up to £150)
* Length of service awards
* Access to shopping discounts and cashback with thousands of retailers through Purple Rewards
* Excellent training and development opportunities
* Death In Service (2x your annual salary)
* Confidential, supportive Employee Assistance Programme, accessible 24/7
* Salary Finance, offering you products linked to your salary and tailored to your individual circumstances. Providing services such as loans, advances, savings and financial education

The post holder should demonstrate our people values of CAIRO (Caring, Accountable, Improving, Respectful and Open.)

You’ll need a positive ‘can do’ approach and a flexible approach to work. This busy position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Learning and development training opportunities will be provided, including a recognised Care Certificate and support towards an industry recognised qualification if desired.

Whether you have previous experience or want to kick start your journey in social care, we would love to hear from you! Please apply by uploading your CV and brief covering letter explaining why you would like to work with us.

A DBS (Disclosure & Barring) check will be required before appointment is confirmed.

We reserve the right to close the post early once we have received a sufficient number of applicants: please submit your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
