Responsibilities
* Be/become a ‘topic expert’ on UK legislation which implements EU Directives on Machinery, Pressure Equipment, Electrical equipment, Work Equipment, AtEx, Low Voltage electrical equipment, PUWER, risk assessment, etc.
* Support new equipment introduction to the blade factory.
* Develop a close working relationship with those specifying and purchasing equipment to ensure equipment destined for the Hull Blade Factory is ‘safe-by-design’ and meets UK legal requirements.
* Evaluate, improve, develop, and own site EHS processes and procedures.
* Lead on the site emergency management system, including fire, emergency rescue and spill response.
* Provide EHS guidance, assistance and advice to support production activities using relevant company EHS procedures, legislation, and standards.
* Develop materials and deliver relevant safety training to employees that equips them to deliver on their responsibilities.
* Identify and support the delivery of cross-functional improvement projects that manage health and safety risks.
* Support with the review and preparation of EHS documentation including risk assessments, work equipment assessments, chemical assessments, and work instructions.
* Invest in your own professional development, undertaking training and development activities where required.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in an engineering / manufacturing environment.
* Batchelors degree (or equivalent) in health and safety, engineering, or a related field.
* Demonstrable experience of providing EHS leadership and pragmatic EHS guidance.
* Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organisation.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships, manage expectations, and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to analyse data and evaluate risks.
* Health and safety qualifications (eg. NEBOSH diploma, NEBOSH Certificate, IEMA certification) or willingness to work towards these in a reasonable time frame.
* Demonstrated experience in problem solving (eg. root cause analysis methodologies)
* Experience in leading and executing projects.
* Experience of dealing with regulatory bodies.
* Previous experience of working with or managing: ,Machinery safety ,Risk assessment ,Emergency preparedness ,Fire safety ,Electrical safety ,Lock-out tag-out ,Contractor management ,Permit-to-work ,Explosive atmospheres.
