Overview
Operations and Logistics Manager at Aqua Direct, part of South Staffs Water, based at Seedy Mill, Lichfield. Lead end-to-end delivery of tankered spring and drinking water services, manage the supply chain, coordinate fleet and driver operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold health, safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
* Manage and optimise driver scheduling and water delivery logistics on a Just-in-Time basis.
* Oversee the daily operations of Aqua’s delivery fleet, ensuring compliance with O Licence and transport regulations.
* Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team, ensuring staff development and performance.
* Ensure full compliance with CDG regulations as Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor for South Staffs and Cambridge Water.
* Maintain robust fleet performance through maintenance contracts and renewal planning.
* Manage operational systems and ensure accurate record-keeping for logistics, invoicing, and reporting.
* Oversee QA, hygiene, and health and safety compliance, working closely with regulatory bodies (BRCGS, DWI, EA).
* Coordinate training, audits, and performance reviews for all operational staff.
* Maintain and continuously update Aqua Direct’s HACCP Plan and quality documentation.
* Lead monthly quality audits and manage customer audits, including SAQs.
* Ensure BRCGS compliance and lead annual audits.
* Serve as the primary contact for all internal and external quality matters.
* Act as the key point of contact for all health and safety matters, internally and externally.
* Maintain incident logs and ensure timely reporting and investigation of all safety incidents.
* Provide staff training on safety procedures and compliance.
* Hold and maintain all relevant H&S certifications (NEBOSH/IOSH, EUSR, SHEA, etc.).

* Strong conflict resolution, motivation, and communication skills.
* Skilled in strategic planning and operational efficiency, with a focus on reducing downtime and improving performance.
* Ability to manage complex logistics in a fast-paced environment.
* In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Experience ensuring compliance with DWI, BRCGS, DVSA, and EA standards.
* Strong interpersonal skills to manage customer relationships and resolve issues effectively.
* Comfortable working with regulators, suppliers, and internal departments.
* Budget management experience with a focus on cost control and reporting.
* Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimise resource use.
* Comfortable using logistics and fleet management software.
* Experience implementing technology to improve operational efficiency.
