All about the Role

As our Transport Officer, you will be coordinating day to day transport operations for education and children's social care. Every day will bring variety - from solving logistics challenges and supporting families, to working closely with operators, schools and internal teams.

Main duties include:

* Coordinate daily transport arrangements, ensuring efficient, cost effective services.
* Maintain accurate transport records and produce timely management reports.
* Respond quickly and effectively to transport enquiries or incidents.
* Check and process financial data, including invoices and operator information.
* Provide essential administrative and customer-facing support to the Passenger Transport Team.
* Support procurement and tendering processes for new transport services.
* Assist with risk assessments, customer complaints, operator checks and monitoring of transport arrangements.

The Passenger Transport Team ensures children and young people across Peterborough can travel safely and reliably to school and essential services. We work closely with schools, families and transport operators to coordinate daily routes, resolve issues quickly and deliver efficient, cost effective transport. It's a supportive, fast paced team where every member plays a key role in keeping services running smoothly and providing an excellent experience for families.

* Highly organised with excellent administrative skills.
* Comfortable working in a busy team environment and juggling multiple tasks.
* Confident communicator - face to face, by phone and in writing.
* Skilled in using IT systems including Excel, Word and databases.
* Strong in numeracy, with the ability to check invoices and financial records.
* Calm under pressure, able to react quickly to unexpected challenges.
* Professional, with a commitment to confidentiality.
* Focused on delivering excellent customer care every time.
