and What You'll Be Doing
We are looking for a Solicitor/Chartered Legal Executive (or someone currently undertaking one of these qualification routes) for our Lifestyle and Estate Planning Team. You will be working within a team focusing on the administration of property and financial affairs and Court of Protection applications and Lasting Powers of Attorney for elderly and vulnerable clients, so experience in these areas is essential.
You’ll be able to work quickly and accurately whilst also always giving excellent client care. Given the nature of the role, it’s essential that you are an exceptional and confident communicator as you’ll work as part of a highly respected team to assist clients and the firm’s to the highest of your ability.

The role will include:
1. COP applications and Lasting Powers of Attorney - to take initial instructions from clients and to advise, after consultation with the Supervising Team Leader where appropriate, on the legal action and all alternatives open to the client.
2. Drafting and progression of Lasting Powers of Attorney and complex COP applications.
3. To manage own caseload of Deputy/Attorney management matters, under supervision of Supervising Team Leader, to include preparation of annual Deputy Reports and to comply with all COP/OPG deadlines; complete claims for Local Authority funding or arrange CHC assessment and arrange annual benefits and financial reviews; attend at client properties to inspect, arrange valuations, etc.
4. To keep the client informed as required by the firm's and department's set procedures, to include home visits.
5. To run the files allocated in accordance with the firm's and department's set procedures.
6. Attend appropriate Business Development events as a representative of the firm.
About You
7. Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive or in the process of qualifying for the same
8. Experience within the work types detailed above
9. Ability to work professionally and collaboratively and to use initiative
10. Empathy and compassion to help guide our clients through challenging personal circumstances
11. A friendly, enthusiastic and can-do approach
12. Good/up to date IT skills
