Staff Nurse - Urology Outpatients RLH/Aintree
We are looking for several Band 5 Nurses who would like a career within the Urology specialty. The post holder would ideally have experience in Urology diagnostics and treatments and a desire to develop within the area. Urology Diagnostics, Treatments and Outpatients is a growing nurse-led service which includes nurse-led diagnostics, benign and stone diagnostics, cancer diagnostics and treatments, and andrology services. This role includes communicating treatment plans with patients and primary care. Clinical Responsibilities
Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for all patients and carers and maintain agreed standards of nursing care. Determine nursing priorities and plans for patient care; inform the nurse in charge when changes in circumstances may affect patient care. Maintain nursing records in accordance with the NMC and Trust guidelines. Maintain and improve quality of patient care through contribution to the development of Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit. Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients. Provide information and support to patients and carers, and ensure all those involved in care are aware of changes in the patient\'s condition. Assist in the safe custody, checking and administration of drugs. Develop clinical knowledge and skills to care for acutely ill patients admitted via both planned and unplanned routes. Undertake expanded practice, under supervision, to optimise patient care in line with ward/department and Trust policies. Involve patients and carers in the planning and delivery of care. Ensure effective lines of communication within the ward/department and multidisciplinary team. Manage allocated workload and provide supervision of less experienced staff. Practice and promote safe and efficient use of resources. Report all incidents, accidents and complaints to the unit manager and complete Trust incident forms in accordance with risk management policies. Ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures and maintain standards of clinical governance. Act as shift coordinator in rotation with other nurses in the team.
Leadership and Team
Provide leadership in monitoring standards of care, and, as required, cover duties of absent colleagues and follow all organisational policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Band 5 Nurse with interest/experience in Urology Diagnostics and Treatments
* Desire for personal development within the Urology specialty
* Commitment to high standards of patient-centred care
* Ability to work within an MDT and contribute to service improvement
