The Post
The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role as part of NHS Scotland. NHS National Services Scotland’s mission is to enable and support the delivery of better care working in partnership. We do this by providing a range of specialized support services that enable NHS boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care. Suitable applicants are invited to join a hard working team in a well equipped Blood Bank Laboratory which operates 24/7/365.
The Candidate
We are currently looking for a reliable person to join our clinical laboratory team. You will be trained to carry out a range of general duties to provide vital support for the Biomedical Scientist staff in our busy clinical laboratory. The successful candidate should have a flexible approach to work and must participate in the out of hours shift system. No relevant experience is required as full training will be given, however, excellent data inputting skills are essential. Applicants must also hold a full driving licence as you are required to drive between external sites to deliver or pick up blood components.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location and Working Pattern:
The post is based at the SNBTS Transfusion Laboratory on Level 5 of Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
Current shift pattern consists of;
Day Shift 0845-1700 Monday – Friday,
Back Shift 1345-2200 Monday – Friday (1 Week in 7)
Weekend Shift 0845-1700 Saturday – Sunday (1 week in 7)
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
