Position: Design Engineer
Location: Cheltenham
Salary: £37,000 - £42,000 (DOE)
Design Engineer required to join a well-established engineering company that supply to the Aerospace industry. The successful candidate will lead the design and development of complex tooling and precision engineering solutions. You will take ownership of projects from concept through to completion, ensuring designs meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and manufacturability.
Responsibilities
* Lead the design of press tools and fixtures using advanced CAD software
* Manage design projects from initial concept through to final approval
* Collaborate with clients to interpret requirements and provide expert technical guidance
* Ensure all designs are optimised for manufacturing, cost-efficiency, and performance
* Oversee and review the work of the design team, providing mentorship and support
* Maintain accurate design documentation and ensure compliance with ISO standards
* Drive continuous improvement and contribute to innovation within the design process
* Support full rate production of a range of products aligned to the Aeroforma Business requirements
* Create detailed process instructions for new processes when new tooling is introduced
* Produce detailed drawings
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Design Engineer within tooling and precision engineering
* Proficiency in CAD software, and CATIA V5
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including forming using hydraulic and hydroforming presses
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
* Leadership experience or the ability to support other team members
