We provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction, operations, de‑commissioning, repowering, and life extension – helping to deliver the energy transition worldwide.
Overview of the Role
The Energy Transition team within our Energy unit is seeking a Project Manager to lead technical advisory projects in a growing portfolio, supporting clients in the UK and across Europe. The role also involves improving our project management processes and approach to drive delivery excellence and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
* Deliver projects within scope, time, quality, and cost
* Build and manage strong relationships with senior client representatives and internal stakeholders
* Establish effective communication across the entire project delivery team
* Take the lead on problem solving and decision making
* Control internal and external commercial aspects of the project under the contract arrangements
* Manage risk to the business and the client
* Work effectively on several projects concurrently to meet tight deadlines
It is expected that you will be able to demonstrate the following:
* Proven success in delivering thermal energy projects (e.g., OCGT, CCGT) within a consultancy, design, contractor, or major industry client context
* Experience managing thermal energy advisory assignments including due diligence for lenders, acquisition, and vendor engagements of development, construction, and operational projects
* Ability to undertake technical reviews of engineering design documentation prepared by third parties and report on findings
* Lead and coordinate the preparation of technical reports and specifications/employer’s requirements to a high‑quality standard while maintaining schedule and budget
* Lead and manage tender preparation and negotiation for Owner’s Engineer projects
* Manage interfaces between the main contractors
* Monitor contractor progress against programme and key milestones, supporting clients in resolving contractor claims
* Identify and manage all critical risks, issues, and impacts, applying statutory and corporate health, safety, and environmental requirements
* Experience in contract administration
* Knowledge of change management, risk management, schedule and cost management and all other aspects of project management
* Ability to make complex decisions, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to and accepting responsibility for actions
* Create a work environment that promotes health, safety, and wellbeing
Candidate Specification
Essential
* Relevant engineering or management degree or proven experience in project management of energy sector projects
* Previous experience in electrical infrastructure projects (e.g., Owner’s Engineer, Lender’s Engineer)
* Excellent communication skills
* Appreciation of the commercial aspects of project work, including contract terms
* Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment
* Collaborative skills – ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams in different countries and cultural contexts
Desirable
* Experience within the Energy Advisory sector
* Experience across all stages of the project lifecycle
* Relevant PM qualifications (e.g., PMQ, PMP, Prince 2)
