Consultant Haematology (Interest in Myeloma)
Full‑time substantive Consultant position (10 PA) in the Haematology Department at the Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. Closing date: 24/06/2026.
Responsibilities
* Attend Haematology Ward and Laboratory sessions on a 1 in 8 and 1 in 5 rota respectively.
* Work up to three clinics per week when not ward‑attending.
* Provide 1 in 8 out‑of‑hours on‑call service, with a separate on‑call rota for Haemostasis.
* Contribute to an email advice and guidance service for general practitioners.
* Develop and maintain a specialist interest in myeloma and related disorders.
Knowledge and Experience
* Current, comprehensive knowledge of haematology and NHS priorities within the specialty.
* Experience of laboratory haematology and practical haematology skills.
* Broad training and experience across haematology, with an emphasis on myeloma.
* Ability to deliver services independently without direct supervision.
* Extensive IT competency relevant to the role.
Skills and Abilities
* Excellent communication skills with patients, relatives, clinical colleagues and support staff.
* Proficiency in spoken and written English.
* Strong presentation abilities and ability to respond to questions.
* Capability to build effective working relationships across all levels of staff and multidisciplinary teams.
* Flexible and collaborative team membership.
Qualifications and Training
* Fully registered with the GMC and on the Specialist Register at appointment.
* Completion of specialist training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at the date of interview.
* Eligibility for UK professional registration and recognition of higher academic qualifications.

Clinical Governance and Audit
* Understanding of clinical governance responsibilities.
* Knowledge of clinical audit principles and active participation.
* Positive approach to evidence‑based practice and ongoing professional development.
Research and Teaching
* Knowledge of research principles, active research involvement, peer‑reviewed publications and an intent to enhance the department’s academic profile.
* Experience in teaching medical students, supervising trainees and delivering multidisciplinary education.
* Formal teaching qualifications and evidence of management training.
* Capacity to organise efficient specialist services and manage consultant workload under pressure, including leadership roles.
