Wood is recruiting for Lead Onshore Pipeline Engineers to join our onshore linear assets team to support onshore pipeline and associated facilities projects within our Technical Consulting Division. This role will primarily be based in our Aberdeen office with some hybrid working available.

The Role
As a Lead Onshore Pipelines Engineer for onshore pipelines projects, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing pipeline projects from concept to completion. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective design and operation of onshore pipeline systems. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, client engagement, and adherence to industry standards and regulations.
The onshore pipeline projects that we service are predominantly within the UK, Europe and Africa, but also some further across the globe.
In order to reach the Net Zero goals, implementation of Onshore pipelines servicing Hydrogen and CO2 is essential, and this Wood team has been at the forefront of the development of these projects. This team will also support projects for conventional energy, water and utilities.
The projects are varied and interesting due to the different sectors that we support ranging from short pipelines to over a few thousand kilometres of cross-country pipelines and associated facilities, with many technical complications that need innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate should be able to perform the below duties and responsibilities;
9. Lead and take technical responsibility for onshore pipeline design on nominated projects
10. In-depth knowledge of UK pipeline codes and standards (IGEM series especially TD1 and TD3, PD 8010, BS EN 14161 and international pipeline design codes including ASME B31.4 and B31.8
11. Interface directly with client pipeline engineers and project management
12. Manage multi disciplined teams
13. Undertake pipeline routing and perform pipeline design calculations using Wood and Client design methods, standards and data, to a high quality and in accordance with project requirements
14. Lead site visits activities
15. Check and approve all calculations performed by the pipeline team, providing guidance where required
16. Take responsibility for the development of other pipeline documentation including Design Basis, Detailed Engineering Calculations & Reports, Stress Analysis, Engineering Specifications, Data sheets etc by other pipeline engineers
17. Ensure that Wood and Client’s Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management procedures are complied with
18. Provide assistance to other disciplines and participate in review meetings, in accordance with project requirements
19. Understands the procurement processes and to lead the technical bid evaluation for materials, equipment and main works tenders
20. Ensure that work is completed within schedule and agreed budgets
21. Support internal development and continuous improvement activities as required
22. Engineering degree qualified or chartered engineer status preferred
23. Experience as a Senior/Lead Engineer or Principal Engineer on a major Pipeline Project
24. Requires previous experience on the mechanical and civil design and construction of onshore pipeline projects and the project execution strategies associated with pipeline procurement and construction in an international environment
25. Proven track record in FEED and detailed design experience
26. Able to develop pipeline installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance analysis and procedures
27. Has worked on major pipeline projects which includes major pipeline facilities (compressor or pumping stations, pressure reduction, metering stations, tank farms
28. Experience on both permanent and integrated temporary works design and planning
29. Experienced in the use of pipeline design software (AutoCAD, Microstation, CAESAR II, MATHCAD)
30. Sound appreciation of material selection, process design and HSEQ aspects of oil and gas design and ability to develop material specification
31. Familiar with UK CDM 2015 requirements
32. Construction experience is an added advantage
33. Experience working with UK operators is an advantage
