Estates Officer – Building Operations
Agenda for Change Band 6 (£43,231 - £52,679)
Fixed Term 12 months, 36 hours per week (external or internal secondment possible)
This position will be based at the Borders General Hospital (Melrose) with a requirement to work flexibly across the Scottish Borders region serving acute and primary health care facilities.
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced estates officer to manage building maintenance and minor works programmes across the estate. Ideal candidates have experience in plumbing, joinery, painting and grounds maintenance.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead and manage a team of in‑house trades and external contractors.
* Plan, prioritise and execute building maintenance programmes during periods of change with a high degree of autonomy.
* Act as the authorised person / responsible person for building systems, completing required training.
* Provide on‑call services and respond to emergency situations outside normal working hours when required.
Essential qualifications and skills:
* Relevant experience in building maintenance.
* Experience managing teams and coordinating work across multiple disciplines.
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational, assertive and diplomatic communication skills.
* Full and valid driving licence.
