Job Title: Automation and Observability Engineer
Pay rate: 550 - 600per Day Inside IR35
Location: 3 Days a week on-site in Glasgow
Essential Must Have Skills: Python, Ansible, CI/CD.
Job Description:
As part of the Enterprise Technology Services (ETS), this role provides a reliable, secure, and agile technical platform for business applications and operations. The ETS team enables business operations, delivers collaboration tools to clients, and manages IT risks. The team also works to address cyber threats and meet regulatory expectations. The Automation and Observability Engineer will focus on creating solutions to meet the Firm's data protection strategy, improving reliability, alerting, and observability of the data protection plant.
Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities for improving the reliability of the data protection plant.
2. Implement automation and observability solutions to address underlying issues and accelerate service resumption.
3. Work closely with the operations team to understand and resolve pain points.
4. Utilise modern technology stacks, while also working with legacy technology when necessary.
5. Understand and articulate complex technical solutions to ambiguous customer requirements.
Essential Skills:
6. Strong experience in automation and observability using modern technology stack.
7. Proficient in Python coding (80% of the role) and experience with Ansible.
8. Familiarity with code change tracking and CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins.
9. experience with tools such as Loki, Cortex, and REST API.
10. Ability to debug complex issues beyond provided documentation.
11. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
12. experience with PyKit, Perl, and PowerShell is advantageous.
13. Exposure to backup or storage products is beneficial but not essential.
14. Ability to work as part of a global team.
