Who are we?
Our mission is to provide all our students with the opportunities they need to become well-rounded citizens who believe in themselves, value others and can make a positive difference to their world. This year, we were the most improved school in Hastings!
We believe in every student's potential, and we encourage them to aim high. Our students are taught to have respect for themselves, the community and each other.
All who work and are a part of The Hastings Academy are continually striving to ensure we are the academy of choice. We have a published admissions number of 180 (900 pupils in total) and host a special facility for up to 10 young people with speech, language, and communication difficulties.
Why work with us?
We truly value the experience, dedication, and commitment of all our employees and believe in the power of motivated and happy staff. This is why at Hastings Academy, staff well-being is not an afterthought. It is not confined to the occasional mindfulness session or a token ‘well-being day.’ Instead, we have systematic approach embedded well-being into the operational and cultural architecture of our school. We call this ‘Well-Being by Design’.
5. Remote PPA: All teaching staff are entitled to one afternoon of remote PPA per week, allowing them to work from home during this time.
6. Professional growth at our school is developmental, not performative. We have replaced one-size-fits-all CPD with a rich coaching offer.
7. Only One After-School Event per Week: Always on Thursdays. No doubles. No burnout.
8. Well-Being Ambassadors & Weeks: Our school has designated staff responsible for promoting well-being, feeding back directly to leadership and organising well-being weeks.
9. Perks and Benefits: We offer access to discounted gym memberships, the cycle-to-work scheme, and staff-only perks to support physical and financial well-being.
10. Complimentary Food: Staff enjoy free tea and coffee daily, complimentary breakfast every morning and hot food provided before evening events such parents' evenings.
11. Two-Week October Half Term: Our autumn term is the longest of the year. Instead of running an exhausting 8-week block followed by 7 more, we’ve redesigned the calendar into two balanced 7-week half terms.
