Fantastic opportunity for an up and coming Geologist or Land Surveyor to snap up a role based near Maidstone with a small, growing specialist firm. You'll work across the UK on ground investigations and surveys, with a genuine chance to shape the direction of your career as the business scales.
The Opportunity
Our client is a compact, ambitious geotechnical and surveying consultancy in a strong position. They've secured significant contract awards and have a robust pipeline ahead. This isn't a large corporate where you're a number - you're joining a close-knit team where growth is real and rapid. The business is actively expanding, and the right person in either of these roles could genuinely develop into a head of department. They're looking for people who want more than just a job title: people who'll learn the commercial side, understand project lifecycles end-to-end, and contribute across the business as it grows.
What You'll Be Doing
* Site and office work - based from the Maidstone office but travelling nationwide on projects as required, with flexibility to work remotely depending on your experience and level
* Borehole logging (Geologist) to BS5930 standard, supervising drill rigs and crews, managing in-situ testing requirements
* Topographical surveys (Surveyor) using Trimble instrumentation and GNSS, with experience in precise levelling and survey processing
* Report writing - producing factual, professional documentation that clients rely on
* Cross-functional involvement - willingness to chip in on instrumentation, monitoring, project management and the commercial side of projects (not siloed work)
* Team support - using down days and office time to upskill with colleagues and help on other workstreams
* Travel and stay-aways - occasional overnight stays on larger projects; stay-away allowance and remuneration included
What We're Looking For
* Geologist: At least 1–2 years' industry experience in ground investigations, confident with borehole logging to BS5930 standard
* Surveyor: Proven experience carrying out topographical surveys to industry standard; familiarity with Trimble or Leica instrumentation; CAD and survey drawing processing experience preferred
* Commercially aware - you understand costs, timescales and the business drivers behind projects
* Can-do attitude - eager to learn beyond your core discipline, willing to get involved in project management, monitoring, instrumentation or utility surveying as the work demands
* Strong communication - excellent written and verbal skills; reports and site communication must be clear and professional
* Full UK manual driving licence (essential); relevant tickets such as SSSTS, CSCS, CAT & Genny and First Aid beneficial but not required
What's On Offer
* Salary circa £35,000 depending on experience and role
* Company van, fuel card, laptop and phone - everything you need to work effectively across the country
* Genuine growth potential - the business is expanding rapidly and investment in the right people is a priority
* Variety and responsibility - you'll touch real projects from start to finish and have a say in how the department develops
* Stay-away allowance - included in package for occasional project-based overnight stays
