Our mission is to improve the wellbeing of people with Aphasia and their carers by providing tailored speech and language therapy and long‑term support. Session Leader – Aphasia Cafe, Rugby
Aphasia Support is looking to recruit a Session Leader to oversee our brand‑new Aphasia Cafe in Rugby. The group will begin meeting twice a month from June 2026.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Aphasia Cafe in Rugby twice per month.
* Work with the Aphasia Cafe group and volunteer support group to design and deliver engaging sessions that consider the varying language abilities of attendees.
* Provide guidance and support to volunteers within the groups.
* Update attendance registers after each session and write a short report summarising the session.
* Liaise with the Aphasia Support staff team on fundraising and awareness‑raising events involving the Aphasia Cafe groups.
* Attend online briefings from the charity held three times a year.
* Receive support from the charity’s CEO during the induction period, with a thorough handover of responsibilities.
Experience & Qualifications
* Qualified speech and language therapist working at NHS band 5 to 7.
* Student studying to become a speech and language therapist at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
* Experienced SLT Assistant or Support Worker working at or above NHS band 4.

Salary
Qualified: £30 per hour
Unqualified: £20 per hour
