Main duties of the job
The Outpatient Booking department is a fast responsive department. The applicant will be expected to ring and agree appointment dates with our patients as well as perform rostered telephone sessions, depending on the service needs of the department. The hours of the service operate between 8:00 and 18:00 Monday‑Friday in shifts of 8:00‑16:00, 09:00‑17:00 and 10:00‑18:00, with Saturday working 9:00‑12:00 on a rota basis.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, IT knowledge, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, working to strict deadlines.

Qualifications
* GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
* Ability to undertake additional training on departmental IT and manual systems
Experience
* Previous admin and clerical experience in a busy office environment or similar skills
* Experience and understanding of a Patient Administration System (PAS)
* Customer care skills and experience, preferably within a healthcare environment
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
* Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
* Able to work to deadlines
* Knowledge of IT systems
* Good interpersonal skills
* Good telephone manner
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

* Professional telephone manner
* An awareness of Government Access Targets
* Good time management
* Ability to accept and manage change
