What you will be doing
The Project Engineer will be working within the Flotilla and Waterfront Project Management Team supporting projects that are directly linked to the In-Service Submarine Programme as well supporting the Services Strategy through the development of new growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
As a Project Engineer within the Flotilla and Waterfront team you will be primarily responsible for:
* Securing contracts with our Enterprise partners to deliver planned and emergent Submarines maintenance
* Building and maintaining relationships with the relevant customer
* Working with delivery teams to secure and manage the resource required to undertake the work scope of each contract including supporting the resolution of resource conflicts
* The successful delivery to cost, specification and time for responsible contracts
* Effective management of multiple parallel contracts through the full project/contract lifecycle
* Identifying and managing risk across contract portfolio
* Reporting performance in accordance with the contract requirements
* Providing schedule updates for each contract including deliverable management
* Submitting financial inputs (turnover/order intake/margin/cash) into the annual forecast submissions
* Identifying and progressing improvement activities

Who we’re looking for

* You will possess a degree in a relevant engineering or business discipline or have an equivalent level of continuous professional development and experience (ideally in the defence engineering environment).
* You will have Project Management experience, showing an understanding of the project lifecycle, risk management, cost management, planning and programming.
* Member of a professional body and working towards a APMP qualification or equivalent
* The role will involve dealing with customers and stakeholders at all levels and excellent communication skills are therefore a prerequisite.
* A working knowledge of SAP and/or scheduling tools in relation to project activities is desirable.
* You will have the ability to work with minimum supervision in order to deliver results and to work in ambiguous situations, whilst working to tight timescales and achieving quality outputs on time.
* You must have a proactive approach and be a team player
