Shop Floor Team Leader / Mechanical Fitter

Competitive rate/hour + Overtime (x1.5) + Potential EoT Profit Share (after 12 months)
GBS are an employee‑owned trust where all employees have a significant and meaningful stake in a business. We are an international supplier of special purpose machinery and are now looking to recruit a time‑served Mechanical Fitter/Installation Engineer to join our team based in Nelson, Lancashire.
Responsibilities
* Plan shop floor assembly activities, ensuring all components are available in time for build.
* Represent the shop floor at operational reviews to provide feedback on progress, advise on any issues and highlight risks.
* Liaise with the drawing office to understand any special build requirements and resolve quality issues.
* Understand the importance of health and safety, quality, and drive to improve.
* Assembly of various machines using 2‑D assembly drawings and 3‑D models as build references.
* Installation, commissioning, and start‑up of machines on customer sites.
* Complete site surveys to support customer quotations and machine breakdowns.
* Complete troubleshooting and fault finding to help determine the root cause.
* Engage in and support factory acceptance tests (FAT).
* Perform other duties as required in a small, fast‑paced company.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
* Positive "can‑do" attitude, with a willingness to learn and go the extra mile to deliver commitments.
* Previous experience in leading engineering teams.
* Ability to prioritise workloads in a high‑pressure environment.
* Competent with Microsoft Office 365 products (Excel, Word, etc.).
* Bench fitting & assembly experience.
* Ability to read mechanical assembly drawings.
* Good mechanical engineering / fitting skills.
* Pneumatic experience.
* Experience working with motors, conveyors, pumps, tanks, valves, sensors, couplings & gearboxes.
* Fault finding / troubleshooting on production and process equipment.
Desired (Not Essential) Qualifications
* Full clean driving licence.
* Experience using CAD design software (AutoCAD 2D & Inventor 3D).
* Experience working with food‑processing machinery.

Based in Nelson, Lancashire, this role is commutable within the Northwest with good motorway links to the factory.
